What is the collection of OpenSea?
A collection in Openpensea is like a box where you manage your items when you list your own NFTs.
What is a collection at Oppensea?
When selling NFT on Openpensea, you need to clearly set out what kind of character you are selling and what concept you are selling.
This is because if there is no theme to the work you have created and you just sell it, buyers will not understand the concept of your work.
For this reason, you need to set up one character or design and make it into a collection. This is because making a collection will increase the number of fans and recognition of your work in the future.
You should show a direction to clearly set out the main characters of your work in the initial setting and produce NFT works. Collectionization for this purpose will be essential.
Famous Collections at OpenSea
In OpenSea, the collections are displayed as collections by category. The collections displayed on the top screen are all popular series and famous NFTs.
Some of the collections are incredibly expensive.
Here are some of the most famous collections.
CryptoPunks are 10,000 digital characters with various personalities in 24×24 8-bit style pixel art. the inspiration for CryptoPunks comes from the punk movement and cyberpunk genre in 1970s London. CryptoPunks are not used for governance tokens, they are merely an NFT collection, but they fetch a very high price.
The idea hit its uniqueness because every character is a Punk. Each Punk is algorithmically generated by computer code and has a different rarity based on its type and attributes. With 6,039 male Punks, 3,840 female Punks, 88 green-skinned zombies, 24 apes, and 9 light blue-skinned aliens, alien Punks are truly rare.
CryptoPunks tokens were initially released for free, with a history of distribution to those with Ethereum wallets; of the 10,000 Punks, 1,000 are held by the developer. The remaining 9,000 Punks are sold on Onpensea. They must be purchased from the user who owns them through the marketplace.
CryptoPunks were not originally issued as avatars, but as the popularity of NFTs grew and their prices began to skyrocket, some collectors began flaunting their purchased NFTs as icons on social networking sites, especially Twitter.
EtherRock is a series of rock-themed jpeg image NFTs, limited to 100 pieces since 2017, making it one of the oldest NFTs on the blockchain.
The EtherRock website states that “these NFT rocks serve no purpose other than to be portable, sellable, and to take strong pride in being the owner of one of the 100 rocks,” and as ordinary art, the piece has no artistic merit whatsoever.
However, EtherRock is representative of the fact that some users find the NFT appealing for its seemingly trivial concept and purchase it for fun, driving up the price.
Currently, EtherRock has a minimum price of 228 ETH (3,465,000 yen), although a dozen or so out of 100 can be purchased.
Only those who are very wealthy and who find EtherRock attractive can buy the NFT series.
Bored Ape Yacht Club
BAYC stands for Bored Ape Yacht Club, a collection of ape-inspired NFTs issued by Miami, Florida-based Yuga Labs, founded in August 2021. The NFTs, a type of NFT called generative, were issued on Ethereum in a limited edition of 10,000 pieces.
The combination of randomly generated features and accessories means that no two Bored Ape NFTs are exactly alike, and all are uniquely designed. Bored Ape owners have made headlines for their participation, including celebrities such as singers Madonna and Jay-Z and Steph Curry of the NBA Golden State Warriors.
There is also a “BAYC Merch Store,” accessible only to owners, which sells limited edition hoodies, T-shirts, and other merchandise Bored Ape NFT is unique in that it can be used for commercial purposes. The Bored Ape NFT is unique in that it can be used for commercial purposes; for example, you can sell T-shirts with your own Bored Ape NFT design on them.
Perhaps inspired by the success of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Yuga Labs has developed a new series of NFTs: the Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) and the Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC), two separate collections MAYC and BAKC.
Nyan Cat is a feline character that was originally uploaded to YouTube in April 2011, or sometimes released in February 2012, with a video or a song used in that video.
On April 2, 2011, Christopher Torres, a resident of Dallas, Texas, USA, who calls himself “PRguitarman,” published on his website “LOL-Comics” a GIF animation of “Pop Tart Cat,” a cat whose body is a Kellogg’s Pop Tart (English version) candy. The cat’s body is a Kellogg’s Pop Tart, an English-language pastry. He drew a composite picture of the Pop Tart and the cat, and a few days later made it into an animated GIF, which became a huge hit.
Nyan Cat also became popular on YouTube, where he created a video combining a peach sound peach version of “Nyanyanyanyanyanyanyanyanyanyanyanya!” and titled it “Nyan Cat,” which gained great popularity and became an Internet meme.
Such Nyan Cat is now available as NFT art. A GIF image of a limited edition version of Nyan Cat was put up for sale on the digital goods auction site Foundation. The bidding war intensified, and the final winning bid, purchased by an anonymous user at ETH, was approximately $580,000 (approximately 61 million yen). This is a trend that originally made the popular series into a collection.
Advantages of Creating Collections in OpenSea
Now you understand about popular collections at OpenSea. Now we will tell you about the advantages of making your own NFT works into a collection.
Tend to sell more easily.
Collections like the successful NFTs above tend to sell better when they are collected in OpenSea. The reason for this is that when you navigate to a work from the top page of OpenSea, it is displayed by the collections that are selling. If you use the name of the work or the name of the account, you can only find it by using the search search at the top. The best way to make a collection more known as a collection is to make it the easiest to sell.
Easy for users to remember
Another reason for making collections is that they are easy for users to remember and familiarize themselves with.
NFT users overwhelmingly call collections by their names. More and more people are tweeting that they have purchased a famous collection, especially on Twitter. Hashtags are also collection names.
So much so that owning a piece of a collection has the advantage of fulfilling a need for approval and connecting with other owners in the community.
If you make your own NFT pieces into a collection, they may become unexpectedly popular. Let’s collect and sell more and more of your collection.
How to create a collection for each device
Here is how to create a collection of NFT works to be exhibited at OpenSea.
How to create a collection on your PC
First, go to the top page of OpenSea, connect to MetaMask, click on the icon in the upper right corner, and then click on 【My Collections】.
Then click on 【Create a collection】.
After that, you will be taken to the【Create your collection】screen below. From this point on, the structure should be such that the image of the work can be understood, otherwise the purchasing user will not be able to understand what you want to sell. Please fill in all the fields that can be filled in. We will explain each of the displayed items from the top.
First, configure the Logo image. This will be the centerpiece image of the Collection’s introduction page, and the Featured image will be the banner on the Collections selection page.
Set the Banner image. Set a name for My Collection. Since this is the name of the NFT collection you will be selling, a name that is familiar and interesting would be good. Or you may want to use a unique name to create a buzz.
Set the URL for the Collection. If you want to determine the URL yourself, you will need to enter it, but you do not need to enter it here; it will be set automatically. The Description setting is a description of the collection. Fill in the concept of your Collection.
Select a Category. If it is an illustration, just use “Art”. Also, please include any social networking links that you can provide. Buyers may find your work not only on OpenSea, but also through your social networking sites.
We will set up the royalties for you, up to 10% of which will be returned to the seller when the work is sold in the secondary market.
You can set up to 10% of the royalties yourself. Copy the MetaMask address into [Your payout wallet address].
Finally, you need to select a blockchain. The Polygon network is fine for trial listings, but the Ethereum network is a good choice if you are going to keep your collection for a long time.

How to add items to a collection in OpenSea
Now we will tell you how to actually add items in a collection.
This is similar to how to create a collection, but items are a process that is done each time they are created. It is not difficult once you get used to it, so please follow the instructions.
Select a work to be exhibited.
After logging in to OpenSea, click “Create” on the right side of the screen.
When the screen changes to the “Create New Item” screen, please upload your NFT work. You can upload your own NFT work by clicking on the location of the mountain shape and selecting a photo from your PC. The capacity is up to 100 MB. If it is not a video, it will not exceed the capacity, so please upload a photo.
Enter work information
Enter the name, external link, and description of the artwork.
The name should be linked to the collection. Alternatively, we recommend numbering the collection and managing it in a way that is easy for you to keep track of.
The external link should include a link to this URL on the detail page for this item so that users can click on it for more information. For more information, link to your own web page. The description should be a description of the piece. Make sure to describe it everywhere it can be described.
Registering Additional Information
By adding an item to “Properties,” you can register additional details to be displayed on the item page. For example, when registering an NFT item with a unique character, you may want to register the character’s profile and other information. The image is similar to that of a tag on a social networking service.
In “Levels,” you can add numerical characteristics that can be expressed in the form of a progress bar. This is similar to the aforementioned “Properties” with the only difference being the display format.
Stats” is also a numerical property like Levels, but instead of being displayed in a progress bar, it is only displayed as text.
“Unlockable Content” allows the registration of additional content available only to the purchaser. The content can be written in markdown format, and the external download link, access key, password, etc. can be described here.
Configure transaction settings
Set the quantity of your work to be sold. Set how many copies of your artwork will be sold at OpenSea. Currently you can only sell one piece per item, although the value decreases as you sell more.
Also set the blockchain. Set the currency in which you want to trade. Currently you can choose from ETH, Polygon, Solana, and Klaytn. If you want to sell to users around the world, the ETH network is a good choice. Please set the currency you wish to sell in yourself.
Finalize the registration information for the work.
When you have completed all the settings, click “Create”. For the NFT price, you can choose “Fixed Price” or “Auction Style”.
In either case, the selling price and time period cannot be changed after the item is sold, so please set them carefully.
